Chemical Composition (wt%)：Carbon (C): 0.38–0.43%、Manganese (Mn): 0.75–1.00%、Phosphorus (P): ≤0.035%、Sulfur (S): ≤0.040%、Silicon (Si): 0.15–0.35、Chromium (Cr): 0.80–1.10%、Molybdenum (Mo): 0.15–0.25%
Mechanical properties：After being quenched in oil at 850°C and tempered at 650°C, the material exhibits comprehensive mechanical properties including a tensile strength of 930–1080 MPa, a yield strength of ≥795 MPa, an elongation of 12–15%, an impact toughness of ≥47 J (-20°C), and a hardness range of 28–34 HRC. It also combines excellent fatigue resistance (fatigue limit ≈415 MPa) and wear resistance.
Applications: AISI 4140 steel is mainly used as the preferred material for critical components in fields such as aerospace (landing gear, fasteners), automotive industry (crankshafts, gears), oil and gas (drill collars, high-pressure valves), machinery manufacturing (connecting rods, molds), and heavy equipment manufacturing.
